Caledon’s own Smartphone App

Town of Caledon launches smartphone app at caledon.ca/app

The Town of Caledon has launched another e-service for residents with the roll-out of PingStreet, a mobile app for residents to easily access and interact with the Town through handheld devices.

“The use of mobile devices is growing exponentially and Caledon has invested in a mobile app to meet the growing information needs of our residents,” said Bethany Lee, Communications Manager for the Town of Caledon.

“Our Pingstreet app will support quick access to municipal information while citizens are on the go. This complements our website, which is also mobile-friendly, and our more traditional means of communicating with residents.”

The Caledon app, available at caledon.ca/app, includes a number of features:

Emergency Broadcasts: through the Notification Centre, users can subscribe to receive “push” notifications during emergencies such as weather-related events

Report a Problem: residents can report graffiti, potholes, or other issues directly to the Public Works department – they can even snap a photo with their phone – and have that message geo-located

News: current news releases are instantly available

Events: the community calendar includes a full list of what’s on – a great resource for family activities, cultural and service/charitable events.

Trails: if you are looking to get out and enjoy Caledon’s trail network, the app includes an interactive map

Contacts: the app’s “Government” tab includes quick and easy access to elected representatives on the local, provincial and federal level. There is also a list of email addresses for all Town Departments.

Caledon’s PingStreet app is available for iOs (Apple), Android, Blackberry and Windows. Stay tuned – new features will be added in 2015.
